ESG: launch of sunrise observatory on mobility

New research and monitoring hub on sustainable road transport presented at CDP headquarters

Monitor and analyse the evolution of road transport in Italy and identify its development potential in relation to the energy transition. These are the aims of the SUNRISE (SUstaiNable Road InfraStructure Evolution) Observatory of MOST – the National Sustainable Mobility Centre, launched in Rome at the headquarters of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

Involving Almaviva, Autostrade per l’Italia, Eni, Fondazione Filippo Caracciolo and Iveco Group in addition to CDP, the observatory aims to become a European research and information hub that will provide the latest data on the transition to decarbonisation.

The Sunrise agenda for the forthcoming months includes an analysis of Italy’s road transport emissions in July and, in December, a study on Italian behaviour with regard to sustainable mobility.

Present at the launch of the Observatory, Andrea Montanino, Director Sector Strategy and Impact, remarked how “The current scenario is marked by a series of “global shifts” in the economic, geopolitical and demographic arena, while in terms of the climate the trend appears constant. In this context, decarbonisation remains a priority objective, also taking into account these global shifts. To respond effectively to these challenges, it is essential to invest in different sectors, beginning with infrastructure, and this is where CDP has a key role to play. In fact, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti can contribute a wide range of instruments thanks to its ability to attract private capital, manage funds and offer methodologies for the optimum use of the public resources already available.”
