Strengthening cooperation in energy and infrastructure projects to develop in Africa, in line with the Mattei Plan. This is the objective of the two memoranda signed on 26 January in Riyadh by CDP’s CEO Dario Scannapieco with leading public and private partners from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreements were signed during a System Italy mission led by the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
An agreement was signed with Saudi Arabia’s sovereign fund, the Saudi Fund for Development, to identify co-financing opportunities in favour of projects in key sectors such as agriculture, water management, education, health, renewable energies, sustainable infrastructure and the protection of ecosystems.
The second agreement was signed with ACWA Power, a company operating in the energy and water sector, to develop joint initiatives, above all in Africa, in renewables, water desalination and green hydrogen.
Various investee companies that were present reached important agreements with their Saudi counterparts, including Fincantieri for the construction of vessels, (including merchant ships) and cybersecurity for vessels; Snam for the development of a green hydrogen supply chain in Europe and Ansaldo Energia for the development of energy projects in Saudi Arabia and Africa.
