InvestEU: agreement signed between Padua University Hospital and CDP

As part of the InvestEU Programme, a memorandum of understanding has been signed by the two institutions which will see Cassa Depositi e Prestiti provide the hospital management with consultancy services to define the project strategy

Supporting projects to strengthen regional medical and healthcare services by helping to define a strategy for the development of hospitals that are capable of meeting the needs of the region and local communities while guaranteeing efficiency and sustainability. This is the goal of the memorandum of understanding signed by Padua University Hospital and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti which will run till December 2027.

A project that will be possible thanks to the consultancy services provided by CDP and funded by the European Union, as part of the InvestEU Programme, as well as Cassa Depositi e Prestiti itself.

As outlined in the Regional Healthcare Plan (Regional Public Healthcare Plan 2019-2023), Padua University Hospital intends to proceed with the development of the New Health Centre - General Hospital of Padua. A project that will consist of the construction of two main hospital facilities: a new site in the Padova Est – San Lazzaro area which will house 963 beds, including 90 intensive care beds, and a second site which will be created from the redevelopment, reorganisation and streamlining of the existing healthcare facilities in Via Giustiniani, also in Padua, guaranteeing 719 beds, a casualty department and a new children’s hospital.

In its role as Advisory Partner of the European Commission, CDP will provide the hospital management with consultancy on the definition of an operating strategy for the project. More specifically, CDP will support the management in identifying, as part of the overall masterplan, possible lots and relative strategic development plans, performing financial analyses for the simulation of potential operational scenarios, researching potential public-private partnerships, and in preparatory activities for the contracting out of the works.
