A world leader in the construction of turnkey plants for the ceramics industry, also active in the metallurgy, packaging and food industries. This is the business of Sacmi, a cooperative company founded in Imola in 1919 that competes in 26 countries, has 25 plants, a turnover of over 2 billion euros and around 5,000 employees.
With a 75 million euro loan from CDP, Sacmi finalised the acquisition of BMR, a company specialised in the manufacture of ceramic finishing machinery. The Group has thus completed its value chain, offering technologically advanced and fully integrated plants for the entire product processing line: from tile manufacture to the final stages of decoration. Moreover, following its entry into the new group, BMR built a new production site in Schio, in the province of Vicenza, injecting positive economic and employment benefits into the area.
In the long term the transaction will also have strong benefits in terms of the growth of the ceramics supply chain – predominantly Italian and located in Emilia-Romagna – and the consolidation of the company's market share abroad, where more than 80% of its sales are already made.
