The relationship between CDP and the Italian food sector has grown stronger and stronger thanks to operations such as the one carried out together with Sammontana, a top Tuscan producer of ice cream and pastry products.
With a loan of 15 million euros from CDP secured by a SACE Green Guarantee, the company built an innovative high-capacity production line in Colognola ai Colli, in the province of Verona. The transaction allowed the company to increase production, boost revenues and further consolidate its market position. The technology employed has a positive impact on the environment as it reduces the consumption of raw materials and optimises the use of energy sources.
Sammontana was founded in the 1940s with the opening of a dairy of the same name, later transformed into a café and ice cream shop and then into an industrial manufacturer.
The Group works with its own brands (Sammontana, Tre Marie, Il Pasticcere, Mongelo and Bon Chef) and under licence (Loacker), and also makes products bearing the labels of large-scale retail chains, ranking first in the Italian market for breakfast products and second for ice cream.
The company has three production plants between Tuscany and Veneto, one thousand employees and a turnover of over 500 million euros. In the future it aims to grow both organically and externally through the acquisition of companies operating in complementary sectors to expand its range of products.
