Francesca Sofia is a molecular biologist specialized in neuroscience, economics, health management and management of non-profit organizations. She has worked for 10 years for the Telethon Foundation, managing investments in research and development of new therapies for rare genetic diseases. Between 2014 and 2018, she was nominated scientific director of the Italian Epilepsy Federation where she dealt with funding research on epilepsy.
Over the years, she has become an internationally recognized spokesperson and she has been invited to give speeches at several Institutions, such as the World Health Organization, the European Parliament and the European Commission, and to participate in surveys and global studies in the fields of health, research, community advocacy disadvantaged and the economy, coordinated by various subjects including The Economist.
In 2016 she founded Science Compass, a company that provides planning and management services for non-profit investments in biomedical research and health. In 2021 she was elected to the presidency of the International Bureau for Epilepsy, a global organization for the protection of people with epilepsy present in 110 countries around the world.
Francesca Sofia has been appointed General Director of the CDP Foundation on November the 1st 2022.
